Anthrax Riddim produced by John John Recordings 2024
Anthrax Overview
In early 2024, a new bashment project hit the dancehall scene and quickly took over parties and sound system sessions across Jamaica and beyond. This was the Anthrax Riddim, a release that brought together some of dancehall’s most respected voices. Buju Banton, known for his classic anthem “Champion” and his Grammy-winning album “Before the Dawn,” brought serious heat with his track “Hotta Fire.” Bounty Killer, a dancehall icon who played a big part in shaping the 1990s sound and famously won the 2020 Verzuz clash with Beenie Man, came strong with “Warlord Nuh Business.” Sizzla, a prolific artist with over 70 albums and hits like “Thank You Mama,” delivered his tune “Can’t Tame.” All three legends also joined forces on the “Brawta Mini Mix,” giving fans a real treat with their combined energy. The mastermind behind the riddim was John John Recordings. John John, son of the legendary producer King Jammy, has been making waves in dancehall since the 1990s. His label is known for crafting powerful riddims and working with top-tier artists, and this project was no different. Years after its release, selectors still reach for the Anthrax Riddim when they want to get a dance moving. The combination of big names and solid production made this one a favorite for both new listeners and longtime dancehall fans. The energy and quality keep it in heavy rotation, proving its lasting impact on the scene.
