Amg Riddim – East Central Music

East Central Music kept its 2021 dancehall run moving with AMG Riddim, a six-track set that leans on lean, bruising percussion and that clipped, streetwise pulse the label had already been chasing on earlier projects. The cuts don’t waste time getting to the point: A1rajdot’s “Response” and Askell’s “Cold” ride the rhythm with a sharp, hard-edged energy, while Cappo’s “Ride” and Clasickal500’s “Love Fuck” push the more explicit, no-nonsense side of the package. Karrone’s “Won’t Keep You Waiting” adds a bit of tension before Minii closes things out with “Rough Sex, ” which feels like the dirtiest note in an already gritty sequence. At just six songs, it’s a compact riddim built for dancehall selectors who like their juggling taut and unsmiling.
