By 2021, dancehall riddim projects were still being cut lean and functional, and Drizzy Beatz Records kept Heavy Weight Riddim in that compact, four-cut format with Shabako, Tafari Mobsta, Penny Don and Ranico 197, plus Lando Xtarrz on the title track. The production leans on a stripped, mid-tempo dancehall bounce rather than anything glossy, with the voices sitting over a hard kick pattern, clipped snare accents and a low bass line that does most of the talking. “Under The Moon” and “Path Of No Return” give the project its shape on the vocal side, while “Heavy Weight” pushes the riddim’s weightiest groove with a direct singjay delivery. It’s a small release, but the pulse is steady and the instrumental leaves enough space for each artist to ride the pocket cleanly.
