Amani Riddim – Zj Heno

“amani” comes across as a warm, mid-tempo reggae cut with a gentle bounce and enough bass weight to keep it rooted, while the instrumental leans into that open, almost meditative groove that lets the rhythm breathe. ZJ Heno keeps the lineup compact, and that helps the individual voices land: Levysill and Jahpilla give it the more direct sing-jay push, Nazizi adds a smooth, thankful uplift on “Give Thanks, ” and Lavosti’s “On My Knees” brings a more devotional edge to the set. Mtapa’s “Mystic Man” sits nicely in the middle, adding a more reflective tone before Henry Odindo’s six-minute instrumental closes things out and lets the riddim speak on its own. Issued in August 2017, this one sits in that period when Kenyan and wider East African reggae productions were leaning hard into clean digital roots and radio-friendly pacing without losing the yard feel.
