Aabra Riddim – Reveo Muzik

This Aabra Riddim is a leaner, earlier cut than the more stacked version Reveo Muzik would later revisit, and that sparseness suits the beat nicely. At just three tracks, it keeps the focus on a sharp, midtempo dancehall groove with a bit of room between the drums and bass, so the vocals can cut through without the riddim getting crowded. Raytid’s “Fix Yu” has the toughest edge here, De’Vious slides in with the smoother “Just Come, ” and Shanna Raymond’s “Pon De Beat” adds a lighter, more melodic finish. Raymond, a Jamaican-born singer based in St. Kitts and Nevis who’s often billed there as the Queen of Soca, gives the closing track a brighter lift, which helps the instrumental leave the set on a looser, more playful note.
