Mr Wacky Riddim - Triple L Records

Mr Wacky Riddim comes from Triple L Records and landed in 2014 as a dancehall juggling built as a tribute to Gerald “Mr Wacky” Levy, the legendary Bogle, whose name still carries weight in dancehall dance culture. The project runs just under an hour and sits on that early-2010s riddim lane where DJs were still cutting sharp, slang-heavy songs for dancers and selectors alike.

The sound is brisk and street-ready, with a bouncy, percussive pattern that leaves plenty of space for call-and-response hooks and punchline-style deejay talk. It has that party-forward feel, but the tribute angle gives it a bit more purpose than a routine dancehall rhythm. The inclusion of both clean and raw versions for several cuts points to sound system use, and that matters here.

Alozade is one of the anchors, and his veteran voice brings the kind of clipped, animated delivery that made him a force from the late 1990s onward. Hawkeye, another key name on the riddim, is the seasoned toaster who helped define dancehall’s rougher, chant-heavy style. Shane O adds the younger, melodic street energy that became his calling card later in the decade. Potential Kidd, Chico, Cush Hunta, Shaka Pow, Rholin X, Bragga Dat, Chipy-Ranks, and Wicked Rajah round out the juggling with songs that stay close to the dance floor, from girl tunes to badman talk and shelling lyrics.

The most memorable moments are the cuts that feel built for the stage and the dance, especially Hawkeye’s “Mek Dem Frett, ” Alozade’s “Nuff A Dem, ” and Shane O’s “Brok Out Brok Out. ” Triple L Records turns the riddim into both tribute and dancehall tool, and that balance gives it its staying power.
