Divorce Riddim – Island Style

A little left of the usual bashment lane, this one leans into a playful breakup theme and a crossover cast that gives the Divorce Riddim its edge. Alison Hinds pops up twice, and “Never Know That” with Treason has the kind of hooky, teasing energy that fits her voice perfectly, while “I Will Survive” with Anslem nods straight at the title without losing the dancefloor bite. Trini Jacobs and Benjai keep things gritty on “Gangsta Love, ” which pushes the riddim into tougher territory. Ian Wiltshire’s Island Style production keeps the whole thing tight across just four cuts, and that compact format makes the set feel more like a quick snapshot of 2003 dancehall’s Trinidad-Barbados connection than a sprawling compilation.
