Matrimony Riddim – Island Style Productions

Out of Trinidad and Tobago’s early-2000s reggae scene, Matrimony Riddim from Island Style Productions keeps things local and concise, with just two vocal cuts and a version on the rhythm. David Rudder and Carl Jacobs open with “Trini 2 De Bone, ” a title that nods straight to homegrown culture, while Glen Washington teams with Trini Jac on “The Wedding Song, ” the more obvious anchor of the set. The sequencing is lean: two songs, then the instrumental version, so the riddim’s shape doesn’t get buried under extra voices. The release is credited to producer Ian Wiltshire under the Island Style banner, and it was issued in 2003.
