Greezzly Productions wasn’t chasing glossy crossover on Zion Bound Riddim; this one leans hard into deep roots and conscious lyricism, with the kind of meditative pulse that leaves room for the voices to carry the message. Released in December 2016, the project gathers singers from Jamaica, Africa, the U. S. and Europe, which gives the set a wide reach without softening its spiritual center. Ras Penco’s “He Is The Savior” and Skarra Mucci’s “Mount Zion” sit right in the middle of that lane, while Teacha Dee’s “Lightning Earthquake And Thund” and Asante Amen’s “Not Today” keep the pressure on.
