Young Generation Riddim – Good Good Production

Young Generation Riddim came out in 2022 from Good Good Production, the long-running dancehall imprint fronted by Zum. By then the label had already built a reputation for churning out hard-edged rhythms and working with a broad cross-section of the Jamaican scene, and this one fits that pattern with a youthful, current-day dancehall cast. The riddim itself runs with a tense, forward-driving bounce and a stripped-down digital feel that leaves room for the voices to cut through cleanly, while the clean and raw versions of several songs underline how heavily it was aimed at the juggling culture.

The lineup mixes rising names and established voices. Denyque brings the kind of smooth, melodic delivery she’s been known for since her 2009 breakout, while Jahshii and Rytikal push the energy into sharper street territory. D’Yani adds a more melodic, contemporary dancehall approach from Spanish Town, and Shaneil Muir brings the vocal polish and attitude that have made her one of the more visible female names in the genre. Teejay and I-Octane give the set extra weight, with Teejay coming in fresh off the viral momentum that has kept him in the mix and I-Octane supplying veteran authority.

The most memorable cuts are Denyque’s Knees, Jahshii’s Same Way Suh, and Rytikal’s Own Meds, because they capture the range of the riddim without losing its pulse. Even the tougher titles like D’Yani’s Cyaah Count We Out and Shaneil Muir’s Click Bait sit neatly inside the same pressure-filled framework, which is exactly what a good juggling riddim should do.
