Wild Side Riddim – Armzhouse Records

2019 was deep in that sharper, road-ready dancehall stretch, and Wild Side Riddim fits right into it with a lean four-song line-up and a brisk 15-minute run time. Armzhouse Records keeps the rhythm taut and muscular, leaving plenty of room for the artists to cut through without crowding the beat. Teejay’s “Pussy Pension” and Jahvillani’s “Hold The Faith” do the heaviest lifting, with Jahvillani sounding especially focused over the groove, while Shane O’s “The Trophy” adds a slyer edge before Nu Voice closes things out on “Trodding Alone. ” It’s a compact session, but that last cut leaves the project on a more reflective note than the title might suggest.
