The Star 9 Riddim has that mid-2000s roots-meets-dancehall feel: firm drums, a rolling bassline, and enough space for the singers to lean into sharper, more conscious cuts. Kiprich’s “Changes” and Lutan Fyah’s “Dem A Fake” set the tone nicely, while Turbulence pushes the riddim a little harder on “It’s Not True. ” ArmzHouse Records kept the cast lean here, with just five vocal tunes and a version, which makes the whole thing feel more focused than some of the label’s broader 2009 juggling sets. Compared with the busier ArmzHouse output around that period, this one sits on the rootsier end of the catalogue, the kind of release that leans on atmosphere and strong hooks rather than sheer volume.
