Wedding Bells Riddim – City Lock Sound

City Lock Sound followed its 2022 dancehall run with Wedding Bells Riddim in January 2023, and the title fits the mood: this one is sweeter, brighter, and far more melodic. The Berlin-based sound system, active since 2002 and only recently moved into production, framed the project as part of its own transition from selectors to creators. The result is a reggae jugglin’ set with a warm, rolling groove and enough lift in the horn-and-keyboard feel to keep it moving without crowding the singers.

Etana and Klyve open with You and Me, a lover’s tune that sits naturally in her polished, uplifting style. Ammoye follows with You Are, bringing a gentler, soulful tone that matches the riddim’s easy sway. Fantan Mojah’s Reggae Cyan Dead gives the set its most overt roots statement, while Stein’s Jah a Guide Me pushes the spiritual side of the release and feels especially at home on a rhythm this clean. Juki Ranx’s Nice Again adds a lighter, more laid-back flavour that helps balance the more conscious cuts.

With five songs and no wasted space, Wedding Bells Riddim works as a focused sound-system statement rather than a sprawling compilation. City Lock keeps the production open enough for each voice to land clearly, and the project sits neatly in the line where lover’s rock warmth, roots messaging, and modern reggae juggling meet.
