Adidjahiem Records puts Waterford Riddim out in 2014, and the name alone tells you where this one is rooted: Waterford, Portmore, the same St. Catherine circle that fed so much of the Vybz Kartel era. The production sits inside that school of stark, modern dancehall riddims that leave room for the voice to cut through, with a taut digital pulse, hard drum programming, and a cold, street-level edge rather than anything glossy or overly melodic.
The line-up is sharp. Vybz Kartel leads with “Supervisior, ” in clean and raw versions, a reminder of how central he was to the Adidjahiem camp and why his records could anchor a juggling on their own. Shawn Storm’s “Chastity Belt” also comes in both clean and raw takes, keeping the energy mischievous and explicit in classic dancehall fashion. Masicka’s “One Life Not Enough” is the younger voice in the set, already sounding focused and hungry, while G Whizz’s “Raise My Glass” adds a smoother, more celebratory touch. Frass Hill’s “She Loves Me” rounds things out with a more direct lovers angle.
What makes Waterford Riddim work is the contrast between the cuts. Kartel and Shawn Storm keep the project anchored in raw Portmore attitude, but Masicka and G Whizz widen it out, giving the riddim some emotional range. It plays like a snapshot of the Adidjahiem orbit at that moment: militant, streetwise, and built for repeat spins.
