Wata Pipe Riddim – Touch Ah Gold Records

A slick, rolling dancehall groove drives Wata Pipe Riddim, with enough bounce in the drums and bass to keep it aimed squarely at the dance while the vocal cuts trade on party talk, girl lyrics, and a little bit of grimy swagger. Touch Ah Gold Records kept the set lean in its original six-song form, and that tight lineup lets the songs hit hard without too much dead space: Beres Brown and Boom Steppa set the tone on “Up Inna Di Club, ” Flexxx leans into straight-up pull-up energy on “Load A Gal, ” and Jah Vinci’s “Wah Si Mi Dead” gives the riddim a sharper edge. Specialist’s “Gal Wine Fi Me” and Tention featuring Image on “From Dust Til Dawn” keep the mood moving through the night, with Suhverto’s “Let We Paryy” sitting right in the middle of that early-2010s dancehall moment when concise, club-ready riddims carried the whole scene.
