Uptown Riddim
Uptown Overview
Uptown Riddim first came out in 2009 and quickly became a favorite in soca music circles. This lively riddim had masqueraders dancing non-stop at fetes and street parties. The sound was fresh and full of energy, making it a key part of that year’s soca playlists. Many talented artists added their voices to Uptown Riddim. Gappy Ranks, known for his reggae hit “Heaven In Her Eyes,” brought his style to the track “The Caribbean.” Soca Johnny delivered “All Night,” giving the riddim a true party vibe. Dale Saunders, recognized for his 2013 single “Catch Your Love” with T-Pain, sang “Girls Of The World,” adding more color to the release. Boone Chatta’s “Gettin A Feelin” and Delee’s “Me Gal” both kept the crowd moving. Congquez G joined with “Ill Give You,” rounding out the selections. The composer behind this fete favorite crafted a riddim that let every artist shine in their own way. Each song fits together, but each artist’s voice stands out. Uptown Riddim’s joyful sound and catchy melodies helped it stay popular long after its release. This project remains a strong example of how soca music can bring people together on the dancefloor.
