The 2009 Jah Children set out of San Francisco’s Nowtime Sound circle keeps its focus tight: five cuts, four singers, and a heavy rootical mood that leans hard into herb praise and social conscience. Junior Kelly gets two passes at the riddim, with the title cut “Jah Children” and the ganja-forward “Lots of Herbs” doing the main lifting, while Chezidek’s “Herbsman Rise Again” and Mark Wonder’s “Long Road” keep the energy conscious and measured. Devano, billed here as the newer voice, closes with “None Of Jah Jah Children, ” which fits the theme without forcing it. The production has that early-2000s digital-reggae warmth, but the real pull is the way Junior Kelly anchors the whole thing, especially on “Jah Children, ” which still feels like the clearest statement on the riddim.
