Up to Time Riddim – Drez Worldz- Lock off Records

2014 was a busy year for dancehall riddims, and Up to Time sits right in that mid-2010s pocket where the drums are sharp, the bass is weighty, and the hooks are built for clash-ready rotation. Drez Worldz and Lock Off Records line up ten cuts here, with Bunky opening things on the cheeky “Bubble Trouble” before the energy turns rougher on Hash’s “Snap Back, ” Hatcha B’s “If, ” and I Juice’s “Nuh Play Wid People. ” Bunky and Iv5’s “Highly Unlikely” gives the set one of its cleaner, more playful moments, while Kid Haze’s “Problem” keeps the tension high. Mr Evelyn closes it out with “Evelyn Party, ” a fitting end for a riddim that leans hard into streetwise dancehall pressure without losing its bounce.
