By 2017, Tuff Nut Studio had turned “Unification” into a compact roots-conscious statement, with just five cuts and an instrumental framing the whole release. The project leans on a steady mid-tempo reggae pulse rather than anything flashy, leaving room for the message-first writing from J Dot Manswell, Ras Pilot, Survivor and Zion Starr to carry the weight; the songs circle themes of love, unity, and social pressure without losing the easy forward motion of the riddim. Michael “Master Mike” Samuel, the man behind Tuff Nut, has long used the studio as a platform for positive, community-minded music, and that intent sits right at the centre here. The instrumental keeps things anchored with a clean bassline, clipped guitar chops and a restrained drum pattern that gives each vocal enough space to breathe.
