Mykal Rose sets the tone on Ting A Ling Riddim, and his “Innocent You” sits nicely beside Jah Mason’s “Education” and Luciano’s “Rub A Dub Souljah, ” which give the set that sturdy early-2000s roots feel without turning it sleepy. Ball A Fire Muzik keeps the rhythm lean and rolling, with enough room for each voice to breathe, and the way Lukie D and Terror Fabulous step into the cut adds a little extra edge to the sequence. It’s a seven-track run from 2003, with Derrick Lara opening the thing and a clean version tucked in at the end, just in case you want to hear the riddim bare.
