Time Riddim – Own Mission Records

Own Mission Records keeps this 2011 set tight: four cuts, all leaning hard into roots-reggae weight rather than any crossover gloss. Matthew Mcanuff opens with “Health And Strenght, ” Luciano steps in with the pointed “The Wicked, ” and Chuck Fendah’s “She Deh Deh” adds a rougher edge to the sequence, while the label’s own “Time Riddim” closes the circle with the instrumental pulse underneath it all. The project also ties into a run of Own Mission productions that had already been circulating in reggae circles, which fits the patient, conscious feel here. Luciano’s “The Wicked” is the one that lingers longest, sharp and focused, with Mcanuff’s tune setting the tone and giving the riddim its most reflective moment.
