Time Riddim (2011) – Own Mission Crew

2011 was a year when conscious reggae riddims still had room to breathe, and Own Mission Crew used Time Riddim to keep that spirit moving with a tight four-track set. Luciano’s “The Wicked” is the obvious anchor here, carrying the kind of gravitas that comes naturally when he’s on a roots cut, while Matthew Mcanuff’s “Health and Strenght” adds a more uplifting, message-driven tone. Chuck Fendah’s “She Deh Deh” brings another voice into the mix, and the crew’s own instrumental closes the sequence, which feels deliberate rather than accidental. Own Mission was already active around that period with other roots work, and this one sits neatly in that lane: vocal cuts first, then the riddim itself left at the end so the groove can linger on its own.
