Thunder Race Riddim – Naygk

In 2008, when dancehall riddims were still leaning hard on stripped, fast-moving patterns and sharp sound-system pressure, Thunder Race sat right in that lane with a busy but uncluttered selection of voices. Naygk keeps the focus on propulsion: clipped drums, a racing one-drop-to-steppers feel, and a heavy bass line that pushes the whole thing forward without crowding the mix. The set pulls in Clemenza, Kany Kun Fu, Little Rik, Colonel Reyel and Ital General, with Tekilla’s “Pon Chi Chi Pussy” adding a rougher edge near the end. It’s a compact 11-track cut, version included, and the riddim’s real character comes from that taut rhythm section and the way the vocals are left plenty of room to ride the pocket.
