The Present Riddim keeps things in that warm, mid-tempo roots-reggae pocket, with Cosme Deyah Production lining up a small but thoughtful set that leans into message songs rather than flash. Gappy Ranks’ “I Nah” feels like the anchor here, all clipped phrasing and stubborn attitude, while Yeyo Perez’s “Perfect” and Brother Wildman’s “Fyah Hot” bring a more uplifted, chant-heavy energy to the same groove. Sistah Maryjane’s “Education” and I Ripoll’s “Refugees” push the project toward conscious territory, so the whole thing plays like a snapshot of 2016 reggae still trying to say something direct. It landed in March 2016 as an eight-track various-artists set, short enough to move quick but focused enough to leave a real impression.
