The Possessed (2012) Release Details

A three-voice lineup gives The Possessed Riddim its shape right away, with Tarrus Riley, Jah Mali, and Million Stylez each taking a turn over Curtis Lynch’s Necessary Mayhem production. The best-known cut is probably Riley’s “Possessed, ” voiced in Jamaica at Anchor Studios under Dean Fraser’s watch, while Jah Mali’s “Blood Thirsty” leans into the more warning-heavy side of the set and Million Stylez’ “Cool Down” keeps the message grounded in anti-violence. Lynch also folds in a dubbed version under his Da Grynch alias, and the whole thing rides a moody roots backdrop with rolling bass, an old-school drum feel, and a haunted lift from Ken Boothe’s “Black Gold and Green” era. The release came out in 2012 as a four-track package, with the dub included as “The Possessed Riddim. ”
