Songs Riddim – Joe Frasier Records

From Jamaica’s early-2010 roots circuit, Songs Riddim lands as a compact Joe Frasier set with five singers riding one groove, and the mix of voices gives it a nice old-school spread. Big Youth opens with “Traffic Jam, ” while Everton Blender’s “Ali Ali Ho” and George Nooks’ “It’S Crazy” carry the most weight in the lineup, with Sadiki and Stevie Face filling out the sequence on “Don’T Cry” and “Rose In Your Eyes. ” There’s no extra clutter here, just the vocal cut after vocal cut, which keeps the focus on the riddim itself and the way each singer approaches it. Produced by Joe Frasier Records in 2010, it runs five tracks deep.
