Maximum Sound’s The Healer Riddim arrived in 2021 as another sharp entry in Frenchie’s long-running catalogue, one that has always sat comfortably between sound-system pressure and melodic reggae songcraft. The label has spent years pairing heavyweight names with modern roots and dancehall grooves, and this set follows that same playbook with a polished, meditative cut that still has enough swing to keep selectors moving.

The riddim has a calm but insistent pulse, more devotional than aggressive, with warm bass, clean drum programming and a spacious arrangement that leaves room for the singers to stretch out. It feels built for conscious lyrics rather than slack talk, and the song titles back that up: Burdens Heavy, Can’t Stop The Reggae, Everything I Need, People Talk and Till We Meet Again all point toward perseverance, faith and social pressure. Busy Signal sounds especially natural over the groove, while Romain Virgo brings the kind of smooth, high-register delivery that gives the riddim its most immediate lift. Christopher Ellis slips in with a reflective, laid-back approach on Playlist, and Pressure Busspipe turns Everything I Need into one of the set’s strongest statements with his soulful phrasing. Ginjah, Stevie Face, Marvin Priest and Lia Caribe each add different shades of roots feeling, and Gregory Morris closes with Healer Dub, which gives the rhythm a final instrumental pass and underlines the production’s clean dubby finish.
