Coming out of Liv Up Records’ 2010 run, The Grind Riddim is a lean three-cut juggling that keeps the focus on the songs rather than on crowding the plate. Delus opens with “Unruly, ” Fyakin follows on “These Streets, ” and Munga closes with “Gone Too Soon, ” giving the riddim a tidy arc that moves from attitude to street-level reflection. Fyakin’s cut also turns up in his later catalog as one of the pieces he kept in rotation, which says a bit about how well “These Streets” sat in the groove. With only three voicings, the producer leaves space for each singer to land cleanly, and the sequence feels deliberate: one sharp opener, one measured middle tune, and one final note that leaves the riddim hanging in the air.
