Kirkledove Productions’ 2008 I Trucoustic Riddim sits in that mid-2000s stretch where reggae production was leaning into warmer, more acoustic touches without losing the backbone of a proper one-riddim cut. The set moves with a live-band feel, with sax on the instrumental mix and enough space in the arrangement for the voices to breathe, which suits Jah Mason’s “Stand Up” especially well. Hiawondah, Roxanne, and Weedamiah all bring different shades to the same rhythm, but it’s the project’s stripped, organic shape that gives it its character.
