THE GRIND RIDDIM produced by LIV UP RECORDS 2010
The Grind Overview
In the late 1960s, rocksteady was a key Jamaican music style. Its smooth rhythms and strong bass lines became the foundation for later reggae. By 2008, many reggae tracks still used this classic flow, blending it with new sounds and production. LIV UP RECORDS is a well-known Jamaican label. Founded in the early 2000s, the label has produced several popular reggae and dancehall releases. LIV UP RECORDS is respected for working with both new and established artists, helping to bring fresh energy to the scene. On the 2008 roots anthology, three artists stood out: Delus, Fyakin, and Munga. Delus was a rising reggae singer, known for his clear voice and positive lyrics. His song “Unruly” became popular with fans and showed his talent for catchy hooks. Fyakin is a singer with a smooth vocal style. He gained attention with the song “These Streets,” which played on radio stations and helped him reach a wider audience. Munga, also known as Munga Honorable, is a dancehall artist with a unique voice. His track “Gone Too Soon” was well received and added emotion to the collection. These artists, together with LIV UP RECORDS, brought the rocksteady flow into 2008’s reggae playlists. Their songs still remind listeners of reggae’s deep roots and timeless appeal.
