By 2009, the ABX Project was already lining up a compact soca set, and this Pt. 1 version keeps it lean with five cuts and six artists, anchored by Cecile’s “Bumper To Fender” and the Prestan pairings “On De Bumpa” and “Chippin. ” The riddim sits in that jump-up Trinidad pocket: bright, waistline-minded, and driven by a tight pulse that leaves plenty of room for chanty hooks and short, sharp phrases.
