Tearz Riddim – Digiplay Records

With just five tracks, Tearz Riddim keeps the lineup tight: Kym, Bastic, and Erup alongside Fully Govern all circle the same Digiplay cut, with Erup and Fully Govern’s “Unite My People” appearing in two mixes. Digiplay Records had already put out the 2010 Ice Riddim, and this 2012 follow-up feels cut from the same straight-ahead dancehall cloth, aiming for function over flash. The instrumental hangs on a blunt, marching drum pattern and a lean bassline rather than glossy effects, so the vocals stay front and centre. Kym’s “How Would You Feel” and Bastic’s “Ricky” keep the mood clipped and matter-of-fact, while the two “Unite My People” versions give the riddim its clearest identity with a chant-heavy, rallying approach that sits neatly over the same restrained groove.
