Tap Up Riddim produced by Massive B Records, mixed and mastered by Kisko Hype 2023
Tap Up Overview
The Tap Up Riddim release brings back the classic roots reggae sound, shaped by the careful choices of the roots selector. This approach keeps the music connected to the traditions that have influenced reggae for decades, even in 2023. At the center of this project is Massive B Records, a label founded by Bobby Konders in New York. Known for promoting reggae and dancehall worldwide, Massive B has a long history of working with important artists in the genre. The riddim was mixed and mastered by Kisko Hype, whose technical skills help give the release its smooth, meditative flow. The Tap Up Riddim features a strong lineup of artists, each bringing their own style to the project. King Kong delivers the track "Tap Up," adding his signature voice and experience. King Kong is known for his hit "Trouble Again," which made him a recognized name in reggae during the late 1980s. Burro Banton contributes "Di Don." With his deep, commanding voice, Burro Banton has been a staple in dancehall since the 1980s, and his classic "Boom Wah Dis" remains a favorite among fans. Beenie Man, often called the "King of Dancehall," performs "Globally." He is a Grammy Award winner, known for major hits like "Who Am I (Sim Simma)" and for helping bring dancehall to international audiences. Also featured are Gwalla with "Paper Chasing" and Massive B themselves with the instrumental "Tap Up Riddim." Together, these tracks show that the roots instrumental still echoes the spirit of reggae in 2023.
