S.W.A.T. RIDDIM produced by KICKIN PRODUCTIONS 1998
S.W.A.T. Overview
In 1998, the S. W. A. T. Riddim made a big impact on Jamaica’s dancehall scene. This riddim was built for sound system culture, where selectors and DJs look for tracks that can move a crowd. With its heavy bass and sharp digital drums, S. Riddim quickly became a favorite at bashment sessions and street parties. The rhythm’s energy and catchy hooks made it easy for selectors to keep the dancefloor full. Behind the riddim was KICKIN PRODUCTIONS, a label known for pushing dancehall forward in the late 1990s. KICKIN PRODUCTIONS had a reputation for working with top artists and creating tracks that stood out in the dancehall market. Their productions were often picked up by major sound systems, helping new tunes get noticed fast. On S. Riddim, several standout artists brought their own style. Determine delivered “Blood Sweat & Tear,” showing his raw energy and lyrical skill. Lt Stitchie, a well-known deejay who won a Jamaican Music Award in 1997, added “Good Girls” to the mix. Mega Plough came with “Gal Dem Something,” while Red Dragon, famous for his hit “Compliments on Your Kiss,” voiced “Gal Yu Look Good.” Snakey Trouble’s “Blue Bomber” added another layer to the riddim’s appeal. The instrumental “S.w.a.t. Riddim” version was also popular with selectors, used to hype up the crowd or for MCs to freestyle. Even years later, dancehall selectors still rate this release highly. S.
