Super Hero Riddim – Kwashawna Records

Kwashawna Records keeps this one in straight dancehall mode, and the Super Hero Riddim lands with a dark, urgent swing rather than anything glossy or overly polished. Released on August 23, 2019 and issued through Johnny Wonder’s distribution lane, it lines up six voices that already know how to work a street-level juggling: Vybz Kartel, Lisa Hyper, Sikka Rymes, Chronic Law, Squash and Shawn Storm.

Kartel’s Superhero Love sets the tone with that sly, magnetic phrasing he has made his signature, while Shawn Storm’s Loyalty and Chronic Law’s Friendship push the theme into trust, betrayal and code. Sikka Rymes’ Stop Live Fi People and Squash’s Bull Dog bring a harder, more confrontational edge, and Lisa Hyper’s Happy Life gives the set a lighter emotional turn without breaking the riddim’s pressure. That balance is part of what makes the project work: the songs don’t feel like random add-ons, they read like different angles on the same tense mood.
