In 2016, the Sun Down Riddim captured the rebellious energy of dancehall. The journey began in the studio, where the bashment arranger shaped the riddim’s driving beat. At the heart of the project was producer OPTIMUS, known for his sharp sound system instincts and his work with the label that brought this riddim to life. Each artist brought something unique. Black delivered “Diamond - In Your Eyes,” a track that stands out with its smooth vocals and catchy hooks. Isasha’s “Helping Hand” followed, adding a conscious message. Isasha is well known for his hit “Don’t You Know,” which helped establish him as a leading reggae voice out of Trinidad. A.N. Aka Mature teamed up with Natural for “What A Morning,” blending their styles over the riddim’s pulsing backdrop. Piper’s “Living Rastaman” brought a rootsy flavor, true to his reputation for uplifting, culturally rich songs. Zebulun closed out the set with “She Loves Me,” adding a touch of romance and melody.
