Summer Solstice Riddim – Nellz Productions

2012 was a busy year for dancehall riddims that tried to keep the energy lean and club-ready, and Nellz Productions’ Summer Solstice fits that mold with a brisk, sun-bleached groove that leaves plenty of room for the voices riding it. Tuggy gets the biggest pull here with “Rate You” and the double dose of “Lolipop” in edit and raw versions, while Jemineye’s “Live Your Life” and Krytical’s “Wine Up Girl” keep the momentum bubbling without overcomplicating the thing. The cut moves with a neat, mid-tempo snap rather than brute force, which suits the roster nicely, and that final instrumental version lets the riddim breathe on its own after the vocal runs have done their job.
