Red Square Productions leaned a little harder into the crossover lane here, and that makes Suburb Riddim feel different from a straight-up local dancehall juggling. The big talking point is Magazeen’s “Twerkin Cyrus” with Wale, a link-up that pushed the riddim beyond the usual Kingston circle and gave the project a bit of extra lift. Spragga Benz anchors the set with “Chant Dem Down, ” while Bittah doubles up on “Mr Fucky Fucky” and “Mr Wucky Wucky, ” which keeps the mood cheeky even when Jay 5’s “Father God Protect Me” pulls things back toward the more devotional side. The sequence moves from hard-edged party cuts into the collaboration and then closes with the instrumental, so the label clearly wanted the vocal versions to do the talking before letting the riddim breathe on its own.
