STUCKY RIDDIM produced by STEELY & CLEVIE / FAT EYES RECORDS 1997
Stucky Overview
In 1997, dancehall music was full of energy and new ideas. This was the time when the Stucky Riddim came out, giving selectors a fresh yard beat for dancehall nights. The riddim was produced by STEELY & CLEVIE, working with FAT EYES RECORDS. STEELY & CLEVIE were already famous for shaping the digital sound of reggae and dancehall. FAT EYES RECORDS also had a strong reputation for releasing big dancehall hits in the 1990s. Bounty Killer’s track, “Stucky,” stands out on this riddim. Bounty Killer was already a major name, known for songs like “Look” and his powerful voice. A.R.P and Beenie Man teamed up for “You A Di Wife.” Beenie Man, called the “King of Dancehall,” won a Grammy in 2001 for his album “Art and Life.” Tanto Metro, who later became popular with Devonte for “Everyone Falls In Love,” appears here with “First Time.” Lady Saw, known as the “Queen of Dancehall” and famous for her hit “Sycamore Tree,” brings her style to “Money To Spend.” Ghost & Beenie Man join together for “One Of Us,” adding more variety to the riddim. Other artists on this project include Alley Cat with both “Model Glamour Gal” and “Brag & Boast,” Terror Fabulous with “One Back Love,” Daddy Lizard with “Daddy Lizard Going Down,” and Fargo Voice & Don T with “Sweetest Taboo.” Selectors still rate this 1997 mix for its strong lineup and unique sound, making it a favorite in dancehall history.
