STRESS RIDDIM produced by EL PASO 1998
Stress Overview
At the heart of every great dancehall riddim is the studio hand that shapes the sound. In 1998, producer EL PASO, also known as E. J. Robinson, was the creative force behind the Stress Riddim. EL PASO was known for his work on the El Paso label, which became a respected name in late 90s dancehall. His productions often featured top artists and got heavy play in Jamaican dancehalls and on radio. The Stress Riddim brought together a group of artists who each added their own energy. Ghost, famous for his smooth vocals, delivered "When I Need You," a track that fans still remember from many late-night parties. Hawkeye’s "Stress" became a standout, showing his unique style that made him a regular on dancehall charts during the late 90s and early 2000s. Lady G, one of dancehall’s most respected female voices, gave us "Man A Nuh Mi Problem." She is well known for her earlier hit "Nuff Respect," and her confident delivery on this riddim kept her reputation strong. Mad Cobra, who had already scored a Billboard Hot 100 hit with "Flex" in 1992, brought his signature intensity to "Stay Deh." Poisonous added his own flavor with "Yu Fi Cool Yu Nuh," rounding out the lineup. This mix of artists and EL PASO’s production made the Stress Riddim a favorite for partygoers. The sounds of 1998 still echo in memories of crowded dancefloors and the fire of that era’s dancehall scene.
