Produced by Bunny Striker Lee in 1975, Step It Up Youth Man brings together Barry Brown’s vocal cut and Scientist and The Aggrovators’ dub version, making it a short two-track set that moves between rootsy song and stripped-back sound system echo. Brown’s Step It Up Youth Man is the key vocal here, while Step It Up In Dub pushes the same rhythm into deeper dub territory. Bunny Lee was already one of the key Jamaican producers of the era, and the use of The Aggrovators links the release to his regular studio team and the hard-edged style that defined many of his mid-70s sides.
