Spenshell Riddim has that rough-edged 2011 dancehall feel, the sort of pattern built for big-system play: lean, percussive, and pushing the vocals forward without a lot of ornament. Ryan Nellz Robinson keeps the lineup tight, with Bapa T’s “Na Change, ” Blacka Pride’s “Life Goes On, ” and Blackout Crew’s “Knock It From Far” doing most of the heavy lifting, while Danger P and Higher Boukie add a couple of extra cuts that keep the energy moving. The Blackout Crew tune even lands in both edit and raw versions, which says a lot about how the riddim was meant to be worked in the dance. Robinson closes things out with the instrumental version, and that final pass lets the Spenshell pattern breathe on its own.
