Spanish Town Road Riddim – Unknown Label

Produced by Clive Chin in 1972, Spanish Town Road Riddim is a two-track early-’70s cut that pairs Skin, Flesh and Bones’ Spanish Town Road with The Impact All Stars’ S-Corner Dub. The session sits right in the middle of the Chin family’s Impact era, with the mix of vocal and dub leaning more toward roots-period studio craft than later dancehall pressure. Ansel Collins is also associated with the Spanish Town Road side on some discographies, and the tune has remained a small but durable part of reggae collecting, turning up on later Randy’s compilations.
