Spanish Rum Riddim produced by Star Production 2009
Spanish Rum Overview
The story of the fete rhythm began in the studios of Star Production, a label known for pushing Caribbean music forward. In 2009, their team wanted to capture the energy of the year’s soca scene. The sound architect behind the project blended lively drums, catchy brass lines, and a beach-inspired groove that matched the spirit of summer parties across the islands. Star Production, already respected for their work in soca and reggae, had a reputation for launching tracks that filled dance floors and airwaves. When the riddim was ready, Star Production invited some of the scene’s most exciting voices. Radikal delivered “Spanish Wine,” a track that quickly became a favorite at fetes. G Wise Ft Oscar and Oscar - Roll Yuh Waist both brought their own versions of “Roll Yuh Waist,” a tune that had crowds moving with its infectious hook. Don Carlos, already a reggae legend with a long international career and classic albums like “Day to Day Living,” added “Mash Up” to the mix, bringing his signature style to the soca riddim. Kage joined with “Gal Want Me,” rounding out the project with another party anthem. The release was everywhere during the 2009 carnival season. With its bright melodies and energetic vocals, the fete rhythm captured the joy of celebration and set a high mark for soca that year.
