SOULFUL I RIDDIM produced by CAVEMAN PRODUCTIONS 2012
Soulful I Overview
In 2012, a new reggae rhythm project began its journey deep in the heart of Jamaica’s roots scene. At the center was CAVEMAN PRODUCTIONS, a label with a long history of nurturing reggae talent and keeping the island’s sound alive. Known for their authentic touch, CAVEMAN PRODUCTIONS had already made a name with roots releases that found their way onto sound system playlists around the world. The project started with a simple idea: bring together some of reggae’s strong voices over a fresh, percussion-driven rhythm. The roots selector, a key figure in guiding the sound, worked closely with CAVEMAN PRODUCTIONS to shape the vibe. They wanted every song to carry the true spirit of the island. Sizzla, already famous for hits like “Just One of Those Days,” brought his energy to the project with “Something Special.” His voice, both powerful and melodic, set the tone. Andrew Tosh And G, with deep family roots in reggae—Andrew being the son of Peter Tosh—joined in with “Nius - Treating Your Woman Right.” Their track blended tradition with a modern touch. Mr Lee And Ottawa completed the line-up, delivering “Dem Say Me Jah No Real,” a song that echoed the faith and resilience found in classic reggae. When the rhythm project finally dropped, it sent waves through sound system nights. The songs, each unique, fit together perfectly. Even today, the Soulful I Riddim stands as a reminder of 2012’s roots, still echoing through reggae’s heart.
