Soul Emotion Riddim – Troyton Music

With six vocal cuts and a version, Soul Emotion Riddim feels like a compact 2011 rootsy set that leans hard into heartbreak and pleading vocals rather than party energy. Bugle’s “Life Mi A Deal Wid” sets the tone with that weary, confessional edge he does so well, while Khago’s “Gone Too Soon” and Lutan Fyah’s “Don’T Make U Madda Bawl” keep the emotion front and center. Fantan Mojah’s “Mama Heng On” adds another strong conscious note, and the riddim itself was even singled out that year as one of 2011’s more romantic throws. Troyton Music keeps the whole thing tight at about 24 minutes, so it lands more like a focused mood piece than a sprawling compilation.
