Soap Riddim (2021) – Liondub International

Liondub International usually lives in bass-heavy territory, so Soap Riddim feels like a straighter dancehall swing from the New York camp, with a rough, percussive knock and the kind of roomy low end that leaves space for voices to cut through. The lineup keeps it local and to the point: Patexx and Liondub’s “Nuh Style, ” Suku Ward’s “Gunman Anthem, ” and Javada with Kevyn V on “Champion F*Ck” each push the rhythm in a different direction, from brash talk to harder-edged anthem energy. The production doesn’t chase polish so much as impact, and that suits the set’s explicit, street-facing tone. Sotto Bless’s “Bubble Fi Mi” adds a looser, more playful pull before the final cut from Blackout Ja, Junior Dawg and Branxman closes things out with the instrumental’s blunt, no-frills dancehall pressure.
