Soap Overview
When the yard session tape first dropped, dancehall fans couldn’t get enough. The energy was real—selectors played it loud at street parties, and the crowd responded every time. People loved how the tape brought back that classic dancehall feel, but with a fresh twist. Each artist brought their own style to the project. Patexx & Liondub’s “Nuh Style” stood out for its catchy hook and strong delivery. Ras Ajai & Liondub gave fans “Staff Of Life,” showing Ras Ajai’s lyrical skills that he’s known for from his earlier work with Busy Signal. Suku Ward & Liondub’s “Gunman Anthem” had a raw edge, and Suku Ward is already respected for his work with Ward 21, one of dancehall’s most influential groups. Sotto Bless & Liondub kept the vibe lively with “Bubble Fi Mi,” a track made for the dancefloor. Navigator & Liondub’s “Vex” brought a UK dancehall flavour—Navigator is well-known in the UK scene, especially for his work with Freestylers. Behind it all was LIONDUB INTERNATIONAL, the label and producer. LIONDUB INTERNATIONAL has a strong reputation in both New York and London, known for blending reggae, dancehall, and jungle. The label’s founder, Liondub, has earned respect for pushing Caribbean music worldwide and even won the We Love Jungle Award for Best Jungle Radio Show in 2015. Even now, selectors still reach for this 2021 yard session tape. The tracks haven’t lost their fire, and the Soap Riddim keeps the dancehall spirit alive on sound systems everywhere.
