SNIPER RIDDIM produced by STUDIO 2000
Sniper Overview
In 1998, dancehall was changing fast, and Sniper Riddim fit right in. The riddim’s street anthem sound matched the energy of the time, with heavy bass and catchy hooks that made it a favorite at parties. Its bold, direct beat became a symbol of the dancehall spirit that would carry into the new millennium, especially in 2000 when street anthems ruled the dance. The production team, STUDIO, played a big part in shaping the riddim’s style. Known for pushing dancehall into new places, STUDIO had already worked with both local and international artists. Their projects often found success outside Jamaica, and Sniper Riddim was no exception, helping dancehall reach new listeners worldwide. Each artist brought something special to the release. Determine’s “Dilly Dolly” stood out with his strong delivery and sharp lyrics, showing why he was known for his energetic style. Elephant Man’s “One And Move” was a crowd favorite; Elephant Man, sometimes called the “Energy God,” would later become famous for songs like “Pon De River, Pon De Bank” and for his lively stage shows. Scare Dem Crew added their own flavor with “Bad Man Nuh Dress Like Girl.” The group, which included Elephant Man before he went solo, helped define late 1990s dancehall with their rough, streetwise image. Screechie Joe’s “Money Tree” brought a classic deejay vibe, rounding out the riddim’s lineup with his unique voice.
