Jstorm Musiq’s Skeematik Riddim moves with a tense, stuttering dancehall pulse, all clipped drums and dark synth pressure, the kind of section that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to cut through. Jstorm keeps the line-up tight: 1paparazzi opens with the reflective “By Miself, ” Royal Krispi leans into the urgency of “Acknowledge Mi Now, ” and Kxng Sultan’s “Beat The Odds” and Shevvymarks’ “Another Day” push the tougher side of the project. Jstormm steps in with “Stop You, ” while Essae Jv and Nine X pair up on “Remedy” for one of the more melodic moments. Released in 2021, the eight-track set landed right in a period when producers were leaning back into lean, hard-edged riddims and singer-to-deejay switches were doing the heavy lifting.
